12 - Change

I painted one of these little flags for a July 4th festival several years back, and it was so popular that I've continued to paint them in this little size and larger.  The process I use is fun because I've never once measured or sketched anything before painting.  I just start laying on the stripes with big juicy strokes of color, and they always seem to come out sort of straight and even.  If they didn't that would be okay too, because this is obviously an abstracted representation of the flag and is not by any stretch supposed to be a replica.

8 - Saturday

8x10, acrylic, sold
As you know, or don't know, I started this blog, umpteen years ago, and have made several lame attempts at making regular posts.  One fail after another.  But this time is different, and I'm determined to continue my daily posts come hell or high water.   My goal is to paint daily.  I'm not there yet, so until I can get to that point of painting and posting daily, I'm posting paintings that were sold.  As you know, or don't know, I regularly do outdoor art festivals, and when I make a sale, I take a picture.  So many of my unsold paintings have yet to be photographed.  Fweh - I have a lot of work to do to get to that daily painting, photographing, and posting point.  But I will. . . .

6 - Heart of Glass

6x6, acrylic, $50

For me, working with a palette knife encourages impressionism.  I like that.

5 - Self Portrait

6x6, acrylic, sold
Growing up, I always thought pink flamingos were the quintessential Florida statement.  I couldn't stand them.  What happened?  Well, I grew up, and started seeing things. . you know - really seeing things.  These creatures are spectacular, and I paint them every chance I get.  I sell them about as fast as I can paint them (which isn't always necessarily that fast), so I guess I'm not the only one who appreciates them.

4 - Another day

5x7, acrylic on canvas, $50

Being a 5th generation Floridian, I find myself just about always painting things that are either coastal or just nature inspired.  These little guys are one of my most popular paintings, and make nifty pops of color for any little grateful spot in your home or office.  They also make great gifts, and the small size makes them so easy to transport and ship.  Plus - who doesn't like a big ole shrimp?

1 - Back in Time

floral abstraction, acrylic 5"x7" $50
I love these mini flowers.  They add a blast of color to any tiny wall, counter, or shelf space!

This is my first of what I hope to be very regular posts on Daily Paintworks!  I'm looking forward to the encouragement and motivation that this new venue brings.
